Eure inklusive Sprachlern-App: An App for Learning Sign Language for Communication

Eure inklusive Sprachlern-App (EiS-App) is an Android app that enables independent and location-independent learning of sign language for communication with children. The app has been designed to help children with speech development delays, as well as children learning German as a second language, to learn basic sign language from the German Sign Language (DGS) in a playful way. The app aims to enhance communication in kindergarten, school, and leisure, and to enable more self-determined participation in society.

The app presents terms through four elements: METACOM symbols, word, audio, and sign language videos. The signs are shown by children with and without disabilities, creating an inclusive learning environment where children can learn from and with each other. The app's design is barrier-free, and the four modules make it easy for every child to use, regardless of their reading, writing, viewing, hearing, or speaking abilities. The app's design is simple, with clear contrasts to ensure that users with visual impairments can easily navigate it.
